Titan Quanzhou Shipyard bags 11 offshore orders

Titan Quanzhou Shipyard has bagged 11 offshore orders from Singapore’s Falcon Energy Group (FEG) and China’s Guangdong Zhenrong Energy (GZE). Titan Quanzhou Shipyard, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Titan Petrochemicals Group, will build one semi-submersible and two jack-up rigs for FTS Derricks, subsidiary of FEG. Separately, the yard will also construct two semi-submersibles, four jack-up rigs and two FSRUs for GZE, which is the controlling shareholder of Titan Petrochemicals. Financial details of both the deals were not disclosed. In conjunction with the orders, Titan Petrochemicals said GZE has agreed to a loan of at least RMB60m to Titan Quanzhou Shipyard for working capital. Hong Kong-listed Titan Petrochemicals, whose shares continued to be suspended from trading, is itself going through a debt restructuring.

Quanzhou's direct cargo to Taiwan up 100pc to 38,974 tonnes in May

THE Xiaocuo port in Quanzhou city (pop 8.1 million) of southeast Fujian province posted a 100 per cent year-on-year increase in direct cargo volume to Taiwan to 38,974 tonnes in May, reports Xinhua. The port has transported 125,601 tonnes of cargo to Taiwan since the beginning of the year, growing 91.1 per cent year on year. Quanzhou maritime sector introduced a series of measures to enhance its service level and efficiency for the direct shipping.    

Keppel to manage Titan's yard in Quanzhou, China

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has signed a management agreement with financially strapped Titan Petrochemicals and Titan Quanzhou Shipyard (TQS) to manage the yard. The 30 year deal, signed by Keppel O&M subsidiary FELS Offshore, will see the yard embark on projects using Keppel's proprietary designs. The 110 hectare yard has 3.6 km of coastline and is one of China's largest shipyards. Upon completion, TQS will have four ultra-large and wide drydocks, one of which will allow for the conversion of double hull vessels into Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units. The deal marks a major increase in Keppel's presence in China, which currently consists of offshore vessel build yard Keppel Nantong Shipyard. As the world's largest builder of jack-up rigs and converter of FPSO's Keppel is coming under increasing pressure from Chinese yards as they try and capture a slice of the lucrative offshore market. The TQS deal hinges on Titan's financial restructuring and resumption of its shares trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. "The offshore oil and gas market in China has been growing significantly, and there is increasing demand for high specification rigs and production vessels," said Chow Yew Yuen, ceo of Keppel O&M. "At the same time, China is a market which has strong preference for China-made products. Having this yard is an extension of our near market, near customer strategy and enables us to service the Chinese market with our suite of proprietary solutions while meeting its requirement of building in-country." Titan Chairman Zhao Xu Guang added, "I am confident that with Keppel managing this yard which has good development potential, we will be able to quickly build up the track record of the shipyard and deliver winning Keppel designs and products to Chinese oil and gas operators. Having studied the market, we believe there are a significant number of potential projects that this yard is capable of undertaking." China's 12th five year plan included an announcement of and increase in offshore exploration and production spending from RMB120bn to RMB300bn, with offshore oil and gas production targeted to double to 100 million tonnes per annum, from 50 mtpa.

Quanzhou small trader value to Taiwan up 119pc to US$37.86 million in Q1

THE southeast Quanzhou customs in Fujian province has posted a year-on-year 119 per cent increase in petty trade to Taiwan to US$37.86 million in the first quarter this year, taking up 42 per cent of China's total petty trade value to Taiwan, reports Xinhua. Quanzhou customs said the major import products from Taiwan include turtle eggs, frozen saury and Taiwan areca nut. It has established regulation point in the port area and set up 24-hour services to enhance clearance efficiency.  A ship carrying 5.84 tonnes of lake candidus dace from Taiwan Pingdong County via direct Taiwan Jinmen-Quanzhou service arrived at the Shijing checkpoint in Quanzhou recently.  Shijing checkpoint is only 6.5 nautical miles away from Jinmen Island with one to 1.5 hours travel time and is the largest checkpoint for the aquatic products from Taiwan. Its petty trade aquatic products from Taiwan increased 23.8 per cent to 1,490.24 tonnes in the first quarter this year with value rising 113.7 per cent to US$1.74 million. The inbound ship services increased to eight to nine weekly.

Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou to integrate by 2020

Three cities in Fujian province Xiamen, Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, recently have put forward an overall plan to integrate into a metropolitan area by 2015. The plan seeks to establish a united market and share resources, infrastructure, public service information platforms, and basic social public services by 2015 and achieve fundamental integration of industries, space and society through improved sharing mechanisms by 2020, SinoShipNews reports. The metropolitan area will be divided into several districts based on functions, including a port industry district on the south shore of Xiamen Bay and an airport industry district at the junction of Xiang’an in Xiamen and Weitou Bay in Quanzhou, and it is positioned as an important international gateway and an advanced manufacturing center on the west coast of the Taiwan Straits, and a national pilot area of ocean economy and cross-straits economy.

CCCC Forth Harbor wins bid for berth project at Quanzhou Port

On July 15, CCCC Forth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. won the project of No. 16 berth in Xiutu area of Quanzhou Port in Fujian Province, with a value of RMB 208 million and a construction period of 30 months, Dredgingtoday reports. The project involves auxiliary facilities such as the 20,000t ro/ro berth and ro/ro system, south and west berths for working vessels, dredging works, land formation (including revetment), road yard works, terminal water supply and drainage and power supply. 86 caissons need to be prefabricated and installed for the project, with a single maximum length of 1,554.6t. Based in the Quanzhou Bay Economic Zone, leaning against Quanzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone, the project is a major supporting facility for entry and exit of local passengers and for cargo and vehicle export. After completion, the project will become a major carrier for passenger and cargo transportation between Quanzhou and Taiwan.

11 Oct 10 - Quanzhou An Sheng Shipping Co, a Chinese domestic operator set up in Quanzhou in 2002, has organized container services connecting Xingang, Quanzhou and Huangpu, using four containerships of 1,500-3.000 teu recently purchased from three owners, the REN JIAN 1 (3,032 teu - ex GRAND VIEW - purchased from Zodiac Maritime), the REN JIAN 2 (1,684 teu - ex MARCOMPETITION - purchased from Marconsult) and the REN JIAN 5 and REN JIAN 6, (both 1,510 teu - ex CAP COLORADO / CAP COLVILLE - purchased from Halim Mazmin). Quanzhou An Sheng already operates a fleet of small multipurpose units focussing on the Pearl River and Yang Tse River trade.

Quanzhou shipping company starts Quanzhou-Taiwan service

The first scheduled container shipping service from southeastern China's Quanzhou port to Taiwan has been launched, Xinhua reported. The service provide two sailings a week on Mondays and Thursdays from Quanzhou's Houzhu port area to Kaohsiung and Taichung. Before the shipping line was launched, cargo from Taiwan have to be discharged at the port of Jinmen and reloaded onto ships bound for Quanzhou. Many Taiwan shippers have long been wishing for the launch of a scheduled service between Quanzhou and Taiwan.Provider of the service is a Quanzhou shipping company and is said to have obtained the licence for operating direct shipping service between mainland and Taiwan in April. The company later set up a branch office in Kaohsiung in May.
