Zhenjiang inks tug boats

China’s Zhenjiang Shipyard is said to have inked a contract to build three tug boats on October 31 with compatriot SDIC Communications Company. SDIC Communications finally chose Zhenjiang after going through several evaluations and consultations during a newbuilding tender procedure for the vessels. Zhenjiang Shipyard has built special ships for a long time in Jiangsu Province, China. It has mainly constructed offshore multi-purpose rescue boats, passenger ships, offshore platform supply vessel and so on, for major buyers from around 20 regions in China and some 20 countries and areas in Asia, Europe and America.

China's Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard turns out to have inked an order for one offshore supply vessel worth around $150m from Singaporean shipowner on April 28. The OSV, one of Jiangsu Zhenjiang's major ship type, will be newly upgraded and equipped with DP2 system, azimuth propulsion system, etc. Meanwhile, the Chinese shipyard and China Communications Import & Export Corporation had a launching ceremony of 78m-length azimuth offshore protection vessel for Falcon Energy Group of Singapore.  

Zhenjiang ports handles largest foreign ship since operation

PORT of Zhenjiang in east China's Jiangsu province recently handled the largest foreign cargo ship ever since it started operations. The Panama-registered 94,400-tonne bulk carrier Welview vessel is 246 metres long, 42 metres wide, larger than a football pitch. It has a draught of 13.3 metres. It carried 34,000 tonnes of iron ore from Ningbo's Beilun port area, according to Xinhua's report. The port handled another large ship, the Malta-flagged 4,000-TEU Taurus in February.
