Park Dae-Young, president of Samsung Heavy Industries, emphasized 'cost reduction' and 'quality management', saying "Minimizing waste is as important as optimizing design and improving building method," while his New Year's address on January 2.

He added "Under the difficult circumstances, the basic skills, such as quality, etc., are fundamental," and said "Root out quality issues by keeping the standard thoroughly and deliver zero defect newbuildings with advance preparation and complete finishing job."

Park said "Since weight of shipbuilding industries is leaning towards offshore plant from ship, we integrated shipbuilding and offshore design teams and operate shipbuilding-offshore integrated production system," and added "We need to secure sufficient human resources by function and should bear fruits in new business, including wind-power generation, subsea, etc."

And said "We should have cooperative management-labor relations by concerning about the company's future and yielding to each party."
