German deliveries edge up

Author: Posttime:2013-01-11 08:56:22

German shipyards have delivered a total of 34 newbuildings last year, Hamburg publication THB reveals.

11 shipyards delivered 27 ocean-going vessels - mainly cruise and ro-ro ships, yachts and special workboats as well as five cargo-carriers.

In addition, seven 135m long river cruise ships were delivered during 2012 by Neptun Werft.

The overall total of 34 deliveries are up on 2011, when the German shipbuilding association VSM said 31 ships were delivered.

But the figure is much smaller compared to 2008, when the Germans delivered 70 ships.
