Wallenius Lines has ordered two post-panamax car carriers, to be built at Tianjin Xingang Shipyard in China.

The vessels, 200m long and capable of carrying 8,000 cars each, feature optimised hull design and numerous energy saving features, according to Wallenius Lines. “We believe in a strong market for our segment of shipping,” said Anders Boman, Wallenius Lines president, “and are pleased to have concluded the negotiations with Tianjin Xingang Shipyard in China for two state of the art post panamax car carriers with the option to build another two vessels.”

The vessels, to be operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and owned 50% by Wallenius Lines, are due for delivery in 2015 and 2016. The price of the vessels was not disclosed.
