China’s Sainty Marine announced through a regulatory filing on June 27 that it inked a contract for construction of six chip carriers with a Singaporean owner Nova Carriers as a joint sale with Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry and Nantong Runde Shipyard.

According to the regulatory filing released, the six newbuilding chip carriers are to be costing around $38m apiece.

The newbuilding series are to be constructed based on a co-developed design by Mingde Heavy Industry and Japan’s TAIGAI, slated for delivery from 2016 in order.

Mingde Heavy Industry and Runde Shipyard are in the relationship of parent company and subsidiary, having had several times of building same-size newbuildings before.

Meanwhile, Sainty Marine had signed a contract for "supplementary consultation” on May 8 regarding newbuilding contract for two multipurpose offshore platforms with a foreign shipowner as a co-seller with Mingde Heavy Industry and China Chengdu Import & Export Group (CCIE).
