Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES) seem to be considering cooperation in shipbuilding sector, mainly for LNG carrier.   

Although merger and ship business integration of the two companies failed, both builders are seeking a cooperation method to achieve a fruitful outcome in shipbuilding business, according to MarineNet. 

First of all, a mutual cooperation is expected in Moss-type LNG business through an alliance and various plans are also prospected to be examined, such as a cooperative system for human resources and so on in overseas projects of Brazil and etc., along with offshore sector. 

Management integration was rescinded however shipbuilding sectors of the two builders are likely to consider a cooperation measure in line with each company’s strategy as both have been already seeking a cooperation scheme in shipbuilding business.
