China's Shanghai port achieved strong growth in container volumes in August over the corresponding period of last year, according to figures from Shanghai International Port (Group) Co.
Throughput in August came up to 2.95m teu, a rise of 13.3% from 2.61m teu in the same period of 2012, the latest data showed.
Last month's container volumes, however, dipped from 2.98m teu recorded in July this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Shanghai handled a total of 22.26m teu, an increase of 4.4% from 21.32m teu in the same period of las year.
