WUHAI, in the western Inner Mongolia, signed an agreement with Tianjin port to build the Wuhai International Dry Port, reports Xinhua.
The facility will be located in Hainan district of Wuhai city, jointly invested by Tianjin port and an Inner Mongolia import and export company.
Wuhai (pop 540,000) spans on the Yellow River and lies between the Gobi and Ordos deserts, it was formerly two towns, Uda and Haibowan, until amalgamation in 1976.
Once completed, the Wuhai dry port will become the city's "golden dock" providing enterprises an output platform for products in Wuhai to the outside world.
The facility is expected to cut the CNY300 (US$48.99) per TEU costs for carrying cargo to coastal ports through the sea-rail intermodal service compared to the traditional way. Also, it can further promote the city's import and export development as well as raise business taxes for local government.
