China’s Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry turned out to have penned a newbuilding contract to build seven 24,000 dwt stainless chemical tankers with an European owner.

According to a local press in Nantong ({非本站网址}), the contract is considered to be the first large deal for high-value added ships inked by Nantong-based shipbuilder since financial crisis.

Intellectual property right of this type of chemical tanker is owned by Nantong Mingde and each of the 24,000 dwt newbuilds has 174.3m of length and 26.8m of breadth, with 13.7m of height. Also, the vessel’s design draft is said to be 9.4m with speed of 14 knots. This newbuilding contract proves the builder’s well-recognized construction capability of chemical tanker.

Meanwhile, each unit of the newbuilds is capable of loading 24 different types of liquid cargo at the same time, with unloading six different cargos simultaneously. Particularly, it features the world’s lowest level of energy (fuel) consumption, 16 tons per day.
