SHANTOU port in southern China's Guangdong province posted a three per cent year-on-year increase in container volume to 1.28 million TEU in 2013, reports Xinhua.
The port's overall cargo volume in the year increased 10.4 per cent to 50 million tonnes, setting a record high.
The port secured a steady growth in 2013. However, compared with 2012 the growth began to slow, affected by the weak global economic environment and severe weather as well as the insufficient terminal capacity.
