THE Phase 4 project of port of Huanghua in northern China's Hebei province has gained official construction approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), reports Xinhua.

The project has a designed annual handling capacity of 54.6 million tonnes, entailing a total investment of CNY5.55 billion (US$892.31 million).
It will involve the construction of one new 50,000-tonne berth and will upgrade four coal berths based on phase 3 project including one 100,000-tonne, two 70,000-tonne and one 35,000-tonne coal berth.
The facility will be equipped with 11 large loading and unloading equipments and will build 24 coal storage silos with single silo capacity of 30,000 tonnes.
The Phase 4 project is not only a landmark project for the port to step into the 200-million tonne port list, but also a supporting project to improve coal shipment system in north China's coastal ports.
