GETTING trucks off the road - so important to eco-friendly maritime investors - is the priority for global forwarder Greencarrier Freight Services with its new short sea offerings.
"With our short sea shipping solution, Greencarrier Freight Services can now offer transport of goods from Poland to Sweden with LCL service," said a company statement.
"The solution complements our already established solution with Full Container Load (FCL) service for the same distance," it said.
The service starts with trucks in Poland collecting and transporting various types of goods from several customers to the company warehouse in Warsaw.
"The goods are then loaded onto containers and transported to Gdansk for sea freight to Norrkoping, Sweden. When the container arrives at the Port of Norrkoping, we unload the goods and transport them by truck to their final destinations within a radius of about 90 miles from Norrkoping," Greencarrier said.
