Guangzhou and Rotterdam ports join hands

China’s Guangzhou port signed co-operation agreement with Port of Rotterdam Authority to establish sister-port relationship.

According to the agreement, the two parties will be sharing expertise and best practices in the field of port management.
Chen Hong, director of Guangzhou Port Authority said that Guangzhou Port will co-operate with Port of Rotterdam to strengthen talent training, open new shipping routes and promote green intelligent port development.
This partnership is in line with the Port of Rotterdam Authority’s strategic goals to share its knowledge and expertise with ports around the world and establish itself as a frontrunner in the development of new markets, the port of Rotterdam said. The Port of Rotterdam has previously established partnership with other Chinese port cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Guangzhou is one of the busiest container handling ports in China, achieving a throughput of 18.785m teu in 2018. The port operated 148 container shipping routes as the end of 2018 including 103 routes for foreign trading.
