Major Chinese box port volumes up 4.1pc by early December

CONTAINER throughput volume at eight big Chinese ports increased 4.1 per cent year on year by early December, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.

Export throughput increased 2.5 per cent, while domestic volumes were up 8.8 per cent with Tianjin leading as the fastest growing, up 30 per cent.
Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports increased seven per cent year on year while international trade cargo throughput was up 10.3 per cent.
Growth rate for crude oil shipments at major coastal ports was 26.8 per cent year on year. The port of Yantai and Rizhao both posted a growth rate of over 50 per cent.
Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports increased 25.4 per cent while the port inventory increased 30.7 per cent The Port of Rizhao posted a growth rate of over 70 per cent.
In early December, cargo throughput and container volume at three major Yangtze River ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing dropped 13.7 per cent and 13.5 per cent respectively.
