SINGAPORE's Changi Airport Group has announced that Hainan Airlines will arrive at the airport's Terminal 2 on August 29, becoming the sixth Chinese carrier to fly to Changi.

Hainan Airlines will operate four weekly flights on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft connecting Singapore to Hefei and onwards to Dalian, said a statement from Changi Airport Group.

Hefei, the capital of Anhui province, will be a new city for Changi Airport and brings to four the number of new city links to China established this year, following Jinan, Shantou and Qingdao.

Changi Airport Group's director of market development, Lim Ching Kiat said, "We believe there is immense potential for traffic between Singapore and China to grow further with Hainan Airlines' new flights."

Total passenger traffic between Singapore and China totalled 2.9 million in 2009. In the first six months of this year, numbers were up by more than 20 per cent compared to the same period last year to 1.7 million.
