PORTS in southeast China's Fujian province registered a 25 per cent year on year container throughput to 5.66 million TEU in the first eight months, reports Xinhua.

The province's Fuzhou port moved 973,500 TEU with a 24.6 per cent growth, while Xiamen port handled 3.79 million TEU, up 27.9 per cent.

The province's port throughput totalled 209 million tonnes, up 1.6 per cent in the first eight months. Xiamen port moved 89.2 million tonnes, up 16.9 per cent, while Fuzhou port down 20.7 per cent to 52.67 million tonnes.

During the same period, the province's road freight volume grew 20.9 per cent to 301 million tonnes, while waterborne traffic increased 19 per cent to 111 million tonnes.
