China's customs revenue totalled 1.25 trillion yuan (189.9 billion U.S. dollars) in 2010, up 35.9 percent year on year, the country's customs authority said Wednesday.

Chinese customs authorities collected 202.78 billion yuan in tariffs last year, up 36.7 percent year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs (GAC).

They also collected 1.05 trillion yuan in import fees, up 35.7 percent year on year.

GAC head Sheng Guangzu attributed the revenue growth to strong imports amid the country's economic recovery.

GAC said earlier Chinese imports surged 38.7 percent year on year to 1.39 trillion U.S. dollars last year while exports grew 31.3 percent year on year to 1.58 trillion U.S. dollars.
