China's DaoDa Heavy Industry Group(DDHI) and Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) have jointly won two semi-submersible barges of 50,000 DWT plus one optional ship from Fairstar of the Netherlands.

DDHI has already succeeded in building 30,000-dwt class ships in bulk and recently received newbuilding orders for 17 ships of 30,000 DWT with four of them sent to shipowners.

Of the newbuildings, those which are designed and built by DDHI are very welcomed by many European shipowners.

The newly ordered 50,000-dwt semi-submersible units will be delivered in 2012 to be put in service to transport drilling facilities for America's Chevron.
