RUSSIA's First Container Terminal (FCT) in St. Petersburg, part of National Container Company, has again handled its millionth TEU of the year.
Port authorities said that for the third time ever, turnover at FCT exceeded one million TEU. Previously, the one million mark was achieved on the December 5, 2008 and followed by November 11, 2010.
The one millionth container was delivered to the terminal from China's port of Xiamen by containership Maersk Vancouver.
Last year National Container Company terminals in Russia and the CIS handled about 1.3 million TEU, collectively.
