LOGWIN, the largest operator in European fashion logistics, has joined the Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA) before playing its role as logistics partner for Malaysia International Fashion Week from November 21 to 27 in Kuala Lumpur.
"Malaysia has enormous potential to become one of the fashion and lifestyle centres for Asia and we saw an opportunity to work alongside MIFA to strengthen our position in this dynamic sector," said Logwin's air-sea logistics chief Marc Wijnen.
The company aims to launch a brand new product in Asia during the fashion week to support demand for fashion in the region, particularly in premium European and US fashion and lifestyle products. Asian premium brands are expanding sales outside Asia, said Mr Wijnen.
Expansion of its network and range of services across the region is aimed at supporting fashion brands in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China as well as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Australia and beyond.
Said MIFA chairman Heah Sieu Lay: "Malaysian designers are expanding into overseas markets. This alliance will help to address the problems fashion designers face when their collections are overseas-bound for fashion showcases, trade shows and retail outlets."
Logwin established its operations in the region in 1972 and now has 49 branches in Asia including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia with representative offices in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
