XIAMEN, opposite Taiwan, imported 54.93 tonnes of cargo under CEPA, but much of the credit for the 315 per cent year-on-year increase over the first 10 months of the year came from trade with Hong Kong and Macau, reports Xinhua.
The import value grew 278 per cent to $9.32 million during the same period, while that of October increased 32 per cent to $1.08 million with a imports of 642 tonnes.
Chinese mainland signed the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) with Hong Kong and Macau several years ago under which cargo imported from these two regions enjoy preferential tax treatment.
