RIZHAO city, in eastern Shandong province, recorded a trade value of over US$20 billion last year, a sharp increase of 55.9 per cent over 2010, which makes it the fastest growing in trade among all cities in the province, Xinhua reports.
Export value surged 76.7 per cent to US$3.9 billion, ranking the first in the province. Import value increased 51 per cent to $16.9 billion.
Port of Rizhao handled 250 million tonnes of cargo last year. Its capacity is expected to reach 600 million tonnes in the future. The city is now accelerating the construction of a number of railways, expressways and airport to upgrade its distribution capacity.
