Nanjing Tanker's H1 profits skyrocket 590%

Shanghai Stock Exchange-listed Nanjing Tanker Corporation saw its net profits skyrocket by 590%YoY to CNY 116 million in the first half of 2010.

Over this period, the company business revenue increased 140.52%YoY to 2.153 billion after it shipped 23.53 million tons of energy and chemical products.

 According to the earnings report, the Time Charter Equivalent for the company’s very large crude carriers stood at USD 47,500 dollar per day for the January to June period up by 66.5%YoY.

The company said that it put a new VLCC into operation in the first half of the year and that it plans to put another three into operation by the end of this year.

As a listed enterprise, China's Nanjing Tanker Corporation, whose profit was just CNY4.23m ($0.62m) in 2009, recently announced the company earned $11.9m in 1st quarter for shareholders. Nanjing Tanker Corporation expressed their optimism on 2010. The revenue is estimated to hit CNY4.287bn, with operating cost of CNY3.79bn. Meanwhile, 14 ships of 1.52m dwt are schedule to be delivered. Having experienced financial crisis of last year, Nanjing Tanker expressed that five compatriot fund companies had entered shareholder group. The report issued by Shanghai International Shipping Centre indicated that Chinese shipping industry faced overall recovery beyond previous expectation. However, the report also pointed out that the influence of financial crisis still existed. The price war occurred from time to time among ports. In near future, China may weather some kind of fluctuation. The oil shipping companies will earn more but it is not considered to last long.

CUSTOMS at the Yangtze River Delta city of Nanjing has signed a cooperation agreement with 38 leading enterprises in Jiangsu province, Logistics Week reported.The agreement aims to provide greater convenience for law-abiding and trustworthy companies to facilitate trade. For those companies that have signed the agreement, customs will relax control on their cargo.The measure is expected to enhance customs operation efficiency and lower the cost of business, said the reported.
