THE Zhangzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in southeast coastal Fujian province saw petty goods imports from Taiwan increase 24.2 per cent year on year to US$943,400 in the first seven months with the number of batches rising 33.94 per cent to 371, reports Xinhua.
The imports from Taiwan mainly include pastries and cookies which surged 59.01 per cent to US$252,600, cereal products soared 106 per cent to US$133,500 and aquatic products rose 43.78 per cent to US$63,000.
Insiders from the bureau said efficient customs clearance has attributed to the fast development of petty trade imports.
The Zhangzhou checkpoint posted a year-on-year 72.8 per cent increase in exit and entry petty trade with Taiwan to US$1.75 million in 2012 with the batches rising 84.57 per cent to 622.
