Xiamen Shipbuilding delivers largest LNG-powered car carrier

Chinese shipbuilder Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry has named and delivered the two largest LNG-powered pure car, truck carriers (PCTCs) to Siem Car Carriers.

The two vessels, Siem Confucius and Siem Aristotle, are in 199.9 meters length, 30 meters beam and 14.8 depth, and able to carry 7,500 units of automobiles.
Kenneth Ross, president of Siem Car Carriers said that, the two vessels had adopted advanced technology and powered by LNG, the ship emission will be reduced at least 50%.
The two deepsea LNG powered PCTCs, currently are the largest LNG powered PCTC globally, said Li Zhenjun, deputy general manager of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group.
Siem Car Carriers operates liner service, specializing in the transportation of cars, break bulk and project cargo between Mexico, the US West Coast, China, Japan, Korea and Russia.
Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry, one of major shipyards in South China, mainly constructs containerships, heavy lift vessels and car carriers.
