Qinzhou Bonded Port Area's whole car import checkpoint opens for business

QINZHOU Bonded Port Area, on the Gulf of Tonkin, has approved to open its whole car import checkpoint for operation, marking an substantial step in the port's plan of becoming a hub for automotive imports and exports in southwest China, Xinhua reports.
Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine as well as China Customs recently inspected the checkpoint and approved the launch.
Qinzhou Bonded Port Area administrative director Wang Naixue said the port area plans to complete a 70,000-tonne automobile ro-ro berth, a 150,000-square-metre automobile stack yard and two new automobile inspection lines, bringing a capacity of 300,000 whole car imports per year.
Qinzhou Bonded Port Area is the fifth in China that is approved to operate whole-car import business after Tianjin, Dalian, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
